Land Referencer – Birmingham or London

Our client has an opportunity in either their Birmingham or London offices for a Land Referencer to join their Infrastructures team. This is an opportunity to join the market leading infrastructure team and support some of the country’s biggest infrastructure schemes. These include Renewables, Transport, Utilities and Regeneration.
They provide robust land-referencing services to clients, following strict methodologies and diligent enquiries to support access to land and statutory applications for development consent, such as Compulsory Purchase Orders, Development Consent Orders, Hybrid Bill and Transport and Works Act Orders.
This role presents an opportunity to be a part of a small, friendly and growing land referencing team that has a substantial track record for delivering quality services.

Main tasks:
Desktop and contact referencing of affected parties.
Data management, collection, interpretation and analysing land data.
Inputting and maintaining data.
Complex Land Registry title interrogation.
Requests for Information (RFIs) and Land Interest Questionnaires (LIQs).
Contribution towards production of clear and accurate legal documentation such as, Book of Reference, Order Plans, Notices, and Schedule.
Site visits in conjunction with contact referencing activities including but not limited to:- Door knocking to seek information or completion of questionnaires relating to interests in land; Erection and monitoring of unregistered land notices and statutory notices.
Monitoring and responding to incoming post and incoming emails.
Logging communications such as returned RFI’s and LIQ’s, correspondence that has been returned to sender.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with members of the public.
Attendance at client/stakeholder meetings.
Time management of time sheets.

This job description is not exhaustive, and the jobholder may be required to undertake additional duties from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the team and office.

You will have ideally gained a degree qualification (or equivalent) ideally in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in geography/planning along with proven experience within the production of books of reference, order plans, notices, and schedules. An understanding of elements of land referencing such as tenures of land or familiarity with Land Registry and the ability to use or understand GIS systems would be beneficial. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are key to this role
